Murder Mystery

The year is 1938 in Stapleton, Georgia, a small town run by the unpopular but politically shrewd lion mayor Gregory Gassoula, and his pride of eight wives. After a particularly heated town hall discussion with a councillor over zoning rights and an argument with a WWI veteran citizen over rerouting government benefits to his slush fund, the mayor typically took his frustrations out on his wives, who all dealt with the verbal - and sometimes physical - abuse in different ways. But someone, somewhere had had enough. One morning, one of Gregory's wives found the lion in a bloody, mangled mess. Someone had torn him apart in a rage. In this small town, every person is a suspect, and the local sheriff has his paws full separating truth from fiction to find the killer before he or she escapes!

Scene Description

Elizabeth Gassoula was frustrated that everyone seemed happy that Gregory was dead. So she began digging. Asking questions. When her pride-mate Sandra was framed for the murder, she set out to prove her innocence. Even when someone tried to run her off a country road, she was not deterred. Her investigations found a chilling discovery, and a need to confront the villain: the one hiding behind a lawman's badge. But will her need for justice be confused with vengeance?

                                                        Darlin', those are strong words. Reckon you should back on outta here 'fore I arrest ya f'r libel.                                                    

                                                        Elizabeth                                                    

                                                        It's "slander", Mr. Brown. And it's not a lie. I found the tape Tyler recorded of you hiring the man to plant evidence.                                                    

                                                        Hampton                                                    

                                                        Ain't no such thing, sweetcake. Besides, I'm 'fraid it's yer word against mine.                                                    

                                                        Elizabeth                                                    

                                                        Is that so, sheriff? Take a listen.                                                    

                                                        Hampton                                                    

                                                        [FUTZ] Her perfume. Sandra's th' only one who wears it. Y'splash that 'round his body, an' no bloodhound in th' county could sniff out anythin' else. She'll go down for it. Nobody'd miss her - she's a loudmuzzle, anyhow.                                                    

                                                        Voice                                                    

                                                        [FUTZ] Slipping perfume in a crime scene? This isn't going to be easy. Or cheap, sheriff. We're talking double my fee on this.                                                    

                                                        Hampton                                                    

                                                        [FUTZ] You'll get your damned money, y'snake. But this's gotta be done tonight, y'hear? State's comin' in the mornin', and I want that scene prepped for me t' arrest that little lioness soon as possible!                                                    

                                                        Hampton                                                    

                                                        [SOTTO VOCE] Dammit, I knew I shoulda plugged that jackal when I had the chance!                                                    

                                                        Elizabeth                                                    

                                                        It was all you. You killed him. You clawed him up! You set up my pridemate for the fall! You tried to have me killed too!                                                    

                                                        Hampton                                                    

                                                        Let's not be jumpin' to conclusions, girl! Y'ain't got a lick of an idea what's goin' on!                                                    

                                                        Elizabeth                                                    

                                                        I have evidence. And this ain't the only copy of the tape. I got copies made.                                                    

                                                        Hampton                                                    

                                                        God dammit, woman, can't you see? Gassoula *DESERVED* to die! That rat bastard had me under his claws! I never knew the girl I met in that bar was underage! He's been lordin' that over me ever since! An' I ain't the only one he's been blackmailin' in this town! Oughta be given a damn medal!                                                    

                                                        Elizabeth                                                    

                                                        You could have brought him to state court! But you thought it better to murder him and frame an innocent girl instead.                                                    

                                                        Hampton                                                    

                                                        Darlin', ain't nobody innocent in Stapleton. 'Cept me of course. An' it's gonna stay that way, or your Sandra's gonna have an 'accident' in her holdin' cell.You fixin' to let that hang on yer shoulders?                                                    

                                                        SFX                                                    

                                                        [GUN HAMMER CLICK]                                                    

                                                        Elizabeth                                                    

                                                        No, "sheriff" - no more. I can't let you ruin anymore lives. You have to pay for what you've done.                                                    

                                                        Hampton                                                    

                                                        Now c'mon sugar, we both know you ain't got the nerve t'fire that thing....

When a dingo scavenger comes across a wrecked truck in the middle of the outback, he finds an incredible rifle in the cab with a pair of dead kangaroos. But then he finds more than he bargained for as the sole survivor of the crash turns out to be an armadillo gagged and tied up in the back, opening up a mystery for the desert dog.

Scene Description

Later in the Shellback story, a gang of kangaroos has leanred of Sam's escape. In hot pursuit across the outback, the boomers catch Murphy and demand to know where the armadillo is. When the dingo can't tell them, the roos are about to cut him open when Sam guns them down from long range, showing his stellar prowess with his sniper rifle. With the boomers dead, Sam comes up to the unharmed, but mentally shaken Murphy.

                                                        You all right, partner? Almost knicked your ear with that one.                                                    

                                                        Murphy                                                    

                                                        Stay away! Just stay away from me! And you're not my partner! Don't you come any closer!                                                    

                                                        Sam                                                    

                                                        I just saved your life!                                                    

                                                        Murphy                                                    

                                                        I wouldn't even be in danger if it weren't for you.                                                    

                                                        Sam                                                    

                                                        Hey! Now, you just simmer down.                                                    

                                                        Murphy                                                    

                                                        Simmer? Simmer down? I should have left you simmering in that truck, you overgrown slater! I just wanted something to sell. Not to have a flaming boomer gang trying to take my hide.                                                    

                                                        Sam                                                    

                                                        I said calm down! Now I owe you for letting me free. I recognize that. Reckon ain't no way I can repay you enough. And you done me right sticking with me all this time when you didn't have to.                                                    

                                                        Murphy                                                    

                                                        Oh, you're certainly right about that. You have a good one!                                                    

                                                        Sam                                                    

                                                        Hold up there, partner! I know you didn't want in this mess, but you're in it now. And those jumping rats don't look the type to care whether you're with me or not.                                                    

                                                        Murphy                                                    

                                                        I'm dead, then. Blazes, I'm dead.

                                                        You're not dead yet. Now I don't know how deep this burrow goes, but what I do know is neither of us is making it out alone. I'm sorry to drag you down with me. But we ain't coming out alive unless we stick together.

Action Drama

Lloyd, turtle sergeant of Fire Station Precinct 66, loses his young fennec partner Danny Michaels during an attempt to rescue a family after a fire. Upon the death of the rookie, Strauss delves into a depression fraught with alcohol and feelings of suicide. It's up to his friends, coworkers, and even the spirit of his dead friend to pull him out of the vicious vortex, and get him back to the front lines to continue the needed work.

The unimaginative collector only wants to be left alone, so he wishes for the djinn to be free. But the genie is relentless in wanting to help by granting his every errantly made wish.
