Horror Thriller

Fired from his stock broker job due to stress, Walter Benswar finds the opposite problem of being unemployed and stir crazy while waiting for employment. He begins to question his sanity when he starts hallucinating his apartment neighbors dying in gruesome ways, and not being able to tell if he was committing the murders in a stupor of ennui. Until he hallucinates his OWN death.

Scene Description

Walter, after having been questioned and released by the police department, has apparently awoken to blood on his paws, a carving knife in one of them. He is standing in the apartment of his rabbit neighbor Janice, and her brutally stabbed body at his feet. As he is trying to make sense of it all, he hears the voice that has been giving him his hallucinations. His id-based desires. And now, his murderous rampages.

                                                        That went well, don't you think, Walter? She's *much* more docile, now.                                                    

                                                        Walter                                                    

                                                        What - who - where are you? What happened?                                                    

                                                        Zane                                                    

                                                        What do you think happened? We finally did what you wanted! She wouldn't give us the time of day. Now she gave everything to you!                                                    

                                                        Walter                                                    

                                                        What *I* wanted?! No! I never wanted this!                                                    

                                                        Zane                                                    

                                                        Don't you lie to *ME*, Walter! I give you your thoughts! Your desires! Your dreams! And now, you listen. We have work to do, you and I.                                                    

                                                        Walter                                                    

                                                        Oh god - Janice - I'm sorry!!                                                    

                                                        Zane                                                    

                                                        DON'T APOLOGIZE! She's PREY, Walter! We are BETTER than her! We don't apologize to prey! Ever!                                                    

                                                        Walter                                                    

                                                        You - Get - get out of my mind! Who ARE you?!                                                    

                                                        Zane                                                    

                                                        Call me 'Zane', if you must. Now, clean up the blood. Wipe the knife and prints. Dump the body in the bag and take it to the machine shop! Hurry!                                                    

                                                        Walter                                                    

                                                        N-No! I won't do it! I'm calling the police! I have to turn myse-                                                    

                                                        SFX                                                    

                                                        [WALTER CHOKING AS HAND HELD TO THROAT]                                                    

                                                        Zane                                                    

                                                        You won't do ANYTHING unless I ALLOW it, you understand, you spineless wretch? I'll end BOTH of us before I let you control me again!                                                    

                                                        SFX                                                    

                                                        [WALTER CONTINUING TO CHOKE]                                                    

                                                        Zane                                                    

                                                        You give up, and I'll let go of your windpipe. Decide now before we die, Walter!                                                    

                                                        Walter                                                    

                                                        [GASPING] Y-you win!                                                    

                                                        SFX                                                    

                                                        [WALTER BREATHING IN RELIEF]                                                    

                                                        Zane                                                    

                                                        Good. Remember this the next time you do anything. I'm in control. And we're going to have some fun, you and I. But first, you have clean up to do. Get to it.
