Comedy

At Predation, Inc., being a predator is serious business.

Scene Description

Predation, Inc. is having cutbacks, and it falls on Grayson to give the bad news to the unlucky ones in his department. Dale is a good wolf, but not good enough.

                                                        Grayson                                                    

                                                        There's no easy way to say this, Dale. I have to let you go.                                                    

                                                        Dale                                                    

                                                        Let me go? Why? What did I do?                                                    

                                                        Grayson                                                    

                                                        Too few confirmed kills, prey sized below your paygrade—Predation, Incorporated expects more from our wolfpack division.                                                    

                                                        Dale                                                    

                                                        Sir, I've been working on my stalking and pouncing. I'll get my numbers back by the end of the month.                                                    

                                                        Grayson                                                    

                                                        You know the company policy, Dale. It's cutthroat out there! How do you think I got to be Managing Director of Region One Carnivores?                                                    

                                                        Dale                                                    

                                                        [PAUSE] By being a Tyrannosaurus Rex?                                                    

                                                        Grayson                                                    

                                                        [PAUSE] That was rhetorical, son. And somewhat species-ist.                                                    

                                                        Dale                                                    

                                                        Look, Mister Grayson, please give me another chance! Hunting is all I know! My family would disown me if I were the first wolf in our pack to get fired, and I couldn't live with myself----                                                    

                                                        Grayson                                                    

                                                        Dale! Get a hold of yourself! That's no way to go out!                                                    

                                                        Dale                                                    

                                                        Yes, sir. [SNIFF]                                                    

                                                        Grayson                                                    

                                                        You need to sign these papers, then security will let you have a thirty second head start.

Bruce Parsons has covered cricket and rugby in Australia for the last 20 years, but when his TV station is bought out, nepotism forces Bruce into a trip to the States to cover sports he's never learned.

                                                        Yeah.

                                                        Ryan, all right. Three, two and one—g'day down under! Bruce Parsons back at you, and I'm here with Ryan Malone of the Dakota Bikers! Ryan, must be a thrill to play basketball up top side! How are you liking things in the States?                                                    

                                                        Ryan                                                    

                                                        I'm really loving it here. I'm with a great team, everyone's super professional and pushes you to be the best player you can be. Everyone puts in a hundred and ten percent, and I'm really lucky to be playing with so much talent.                                                    

                                                        Bruce                                                    

                                                        Well, that's grand, Ryan, and it sounds like you've been picking up your teammates' accent.                                                    

                                                        Ryan                                                    

                                                        Yeah, the longer you play with a group of guys, the better you get to know their game. It's the playoffs right now, so it's really important to come together as a team.                                                    

                                                        Bruce                                                    

                                                        Wait, wait, Reggie, cut the feed. Hey, Ryan, we're with Aussie television. No worries about your accent.

                                                        What are you talking about?

Project Premise

Action Adventure

In a steampunk world where air travel is king, a retired border collie weapons designer tries to come to terms with having killed thousands with his inventions in a war between wolves and dogs. He finds a chance at redemption when he rescues a pair of kidnapped wolf pups and enlists the help of a pit bull pilot struggling to prove herself in a male-dominated business. Together they'll take a floating barge across the islands fighting local patrols and the remains of the bloody war to bring the wolf pups home.

                                                        Don't worry, I remember. That's why you're paying me double.

                                                        That wasn't the agreement.

                                                        Yeah? So what are you going to do about it? [PAUSE] I thought so. Come on. What you want is downstairs.

                                                        It's not easy to trust someone who changes the terms of a deal.

                                                        Well, good for me you don't have a choice.

                                                        This is why your kind lost the war, you know.

                                                        That's funny. And here I thought it was that big bomb you cooked up. [PAUSE] That's who you're going after, isn't it? The monster who made that thing?

                                                        I just made it my business. So why do you want to kill him? Worried he might use his weapon on you?

It’s a blessing when his eye’s sight returns, his vision curiously better than it was before. And then it gets even better. And better...

                                                        I didn't want to miss the sunrise. [PAUSE] Sara, look at that. Just look at that.                                                    

                                                        Sara                                                    

                                                        The clouds?                                                    

                                                        Henry                                                    

                                                        Everything. The clouds, the trees, the light, the sun—I've never seen it so vividly. I've never seen anything like this before.                                                    

                                                        Sara                                                    

                                                        Well, don't look at the sun too much. You want to keep that eye.                                                    

                                                        Henry                                                    

                                                        It's hard to look away. Did you get the paper?                                                    

                                                        Sara                                                    

                                                        You can have it when I'm done. I don't think you'll find anything in the classifieds for astronomers.                                                    

                                                        Henry                                                    

                                                        No, but I was thinking. The way this eye has gotten, there must be something else I can do.                                                    

                                                        Sara                                                    

                                                        Maybe work for that company looking for one-eyed moles?                                                    

                                                        Henry                                                    

                                                        The other one works. Just not as good.                                                    

                                                        Sara                                                    

                                                        You'd make a perfect pirate, hon.
